Pub Crawl…again

友達と一緒にパブクロール(パブを何軒もはしごすること)に出かけました。。。また！？ 集合場所はガスタウンにあるSteamworks。このパブの地ビールはおいしい。友達は地ビールお試しセットを注文。 We went to pub crawl with friends…again!? We gathered at Steamworks in Gastown. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

父が連れて行ってくれた第一作目から映画館で見てきた（第一作目の日本公開は１９７８年）。最初に見た時は字幕を読めなかったが、初めて宇宙の世界を見て興奮し、感動した。大好きな映画である。 最後の作品、エピソード３を観て思ったのは、エピソード３は子供向けに作られていない。政治の話とか、グロテスクな映像など出てきて、映画館に来ていたちびっ子達はどう思ったのだろうか。大好きなキャラクターC-3POの出番が少なかったのも残念だった。 ２００６年にテレビシリーズが始まるみたいだけど、あまり期待しないでおこう。 I have watched all the episodes at cinemas since my father took me to the first one (which was released in 1978 in Japan). Columbine

Columbineの日本語名は苧環（おだまき）。英語名のColumbineはラテン語の「鳩のような」という語源からきている。日本語の苧環は「玉のように巻いた麻糸」のこと。かわいい花やなぁ。 Columbine is Odamaki in Japanese. Columbine comes from Latin meaning “dovelike”. The Japanese name, Odamaki means a spool of linen thread. Very pretty flower, eh? ゆぅさんの苧環の写真! Yu-san’s columbine photo!

The new road markings in downtown Vancouver

Cloud 9というバーに行った。このバーはエンパイアランドマークホテルの４２階にある回転式展望ラウンジ。１回転、１時間２０分かかる。飲み物もリーズナブルな値段で、眺めは最高だった! 金・土曜日はピアノ演奏がある。 We went to the bar called, Cloud 9. Vancouver Central Library

バンクーバー中央図書館は199５年に建てられた。建物の中はとても広々としていて、明るい。 この建物をデザインした建築家の一人のMoshe Safdieはイスラエル出身で、モントリオールのマクギル大学で建築を学んだ。彼のウェブサイトでは他の作品が美しい写真で見れる。モントリオールにあるHabitat 67↓という住宅プロジェクトはかっこいいなぁ。 Vancouver Central Library was built in 1995. Puccini

オペラ作曲家プッチーニの「蝶々夫人」と「トスカ」のレコードを買った。ＣＤで買うと、フルバージョンは$50（４千円）くらいする。クラッシック専門の中古レコード屋さんに行った。レコードのフルバージョンは＄５（４百円）だった。 ミュージカル「ミス・サイゴン」は「蝶々夫人」と同じあらすじ。死に方はそれぞれ違いますがどちらも悲惨です。「トスカ」は「ロミオとジュリエット」にちょっと似てる。オペラって悲しいストーリーばっかりですねぇ。 プッチーニは結構男前です（写真）。 We bought two records “Madame Butterfly” and “Tosca” by the opera composer, Puccini.
